How to Have a Fun Family RV Camping Trip

Motorhome

Though winter’s only just getting started, now is the perfect time to begin planning your next family trip. It won’t be long before spring break is in session and the kids are looking for something fun to do. RV camping is a perfect medium that everyone can enjoy. There’s nothing but you, your family, and the great outdoors to explore on the open road. With the right recreational vehicle serving as a temporary home on wheels, you can create the experience of a lifetime.

Packing Your RV

The key to having a good time on an RV camping trip is making sure that you’ve packed smart. As there is limited space in each of the areas of the camper, you don’t want to take up too much space with things you’ll hardly use or need. At the very least you’ll need a few cooking supplies like pots, pans, plates, cups, and utensils for the kitchen, some bedding, toiletries, and basic clothing, as well as miscellaneous supplies like ShadePro RV awnings, portable chairs, a small grill, and perhaps an outdoor mat to make use of the outdoors once you’ve arrived at the campsite, and of course, don’t forget your rain jacket for those drizzly days 😉 .

Choosing the Right Destination

There are hundreds, if not thousands of campsites across the US to explore, however, all are not created equally. While some might be more quiet and tranquil others are more family-oriented and come complete with things you need to have a good time like a pool, tennis court, outdoor picnic area, playgrounds, and golf courses. If you’re going to be staying a long time, it would also be ideal to choose a campsite that has other amenities like a laundromat and free wi-fi.

Board gamesBring Entertainment

The idea is to choose a campsite that has plenty of activities or nearby attractions for you and your family to enjoy, however, when you return to your RV at night (and during the road trip) entertainment is necessary to keep everyone happy. Pack some traditional and modern things to keep everyone happy. For example, you might pack board games and Uno cards as well as a tablet or video game console.

Take Advantage of the Outdoors

Don’t stay cooped up in your recreational vehicle the entire time or only participate in modern activities, there’s a lot of fun to be had in nature. Find ways to get outside with your family to explore what the area has to offer. Go hiking along a road with picturesque views, find a body of water to go fishing in, go for a swim in a lake, try whitewater rafting, or just take your dog to the dog park. When the sun goes down, the outdoors can still be a beacon for fun with grilled dinner, campfires, smores, and stories.

RV OutdoorsIt’s not often that families get to take time out of their busy schedules, so when you have the time, you might as well make it unique. Going on an RV camping trip is one of the most special things you can do to bond with children of any age. It gives everyone a chance to experience the outdoors in a new light. As long as you follow the above-mentioned advice, you and your family are sure to have an amazing time
